Sunshine Coast Surfers have beaten Northern NSW Prawns to claim back to back T20 Toot Byron Cups.

Ian Healy Oval played host to the Toot Byron Cup Final, as arguably the two fancied teams battle it out in the Final.

The Prawns batting first put 130 on the board in their 20 overs. In a score that looked below par against the defending Champions, Prawns Captain Ryan Snape top scored with 33.

However, despite a venomous opening spell from Thomas O’Neill, the Prawns were never really in the hunt with the Surfers power hitters making light work of the total, reaching the score 3 wickets down, and one of the players of the tournament Andy Batten (33 not out) and Mat Bruton (27 not out) were the men to close out the game, ensuring the Surfers once again had their hands on the trophy.

Earlier in the day, both semi finals came down to the last ball of the match.

On Ian Healy Oval, Andy Batten hit an astonishing 26 from the last over, including a 6 off the last ball to beat the stunned Gold Coast Manta Rays to book a place in the final.

In the semi final between the Northern NSW Prawns and the Queensland Cattlemen, the Cattlemen had one foot in the Toot Byron Cup Final heading into the last over of the game, however off spinner Rob Lavery produced an over of magic and combined with David Kelly for a last ball stumping to ensure a 1 run win and a place in the final.
