Australia has beaten a strong Rest of Gulf outfit to hold onto 2nd spot in the group 2 table, with Mark Cleary (3/24) and Steven Paulsen (55 from 43 balls) the stand out performers.

For the 2nd game in a row, captain Jamie Panelli won the toss and elected to bat, and in a well rounded team performance, the Australian side cruised to 5/149 from 20 overs. Jeff Hemmings (37 from 34 balls) and Justin Poole (27 from 18) were the main contributors alongside a Paulsen half century.

In reply, the Rest of the Gulf started with a bang and were well ahead of the required run rate after 4 overs, however another disciplined performance by the Aussie bowling attack pegged the Rest of Gulf batsmen right back with their innings finishing at 6/130 after 20 overs. Mark Cleary was ably supported by Richard Wyld who took 2/23 off 3 overs.

With a rest day scheduled on Tuesday November 25th, Australia’s next game is a top of the table clash against USA on Wednesday starting at 7.30pm AEDT
