With only 7 days to go before the IMC T20 Over 40’s World Cup gets underway in Pakistan’s southern city of Karachi, let’s take a look at 7 Aussie players to watch during the tournament.

Nasir Jalil (NSW)

A powerful batting allrounder who hits the ball hard, straight and long. A former first class cricketer, he has transformed his game from a paceman who can bat into a short format specialist. Expect his lethal leg spin to play a big role in Pakistani conditions as he targets the stumps and challenges both sides of the bat.

Steve Nottle (QLD)

An IMC T20 World Cup bolter, Nottle is a powerful top order batsman and can tear and attack apart. As he showed at the 2025 Toot Byron Cup, his ability to hit cleanly and through the line of the ball makes him a difficult player to contain through the powerplay overs. Expect the Karachi boundaries to be too small when Nottle finds his rhythm.

Steven Paulsen (QLD)

A classy and experienced cricketer, Paulsen has reached the heights of Australia’s Big Bash League, and has continued to play white ball premier cricket well into his 40’s. His leg spin will be crucial through the middle overs, and his ability to switch between a touch and power game with the bat provides much needed balance in tournament play.

Mark Cleary (SA)

One of Australia’s most experienced cricketers, Cleary has tasted T20 championship success in both Australia’s BBL and England’s Vitality Blast. With 160 professional games under his belt, he is a handy lower order batter who can clear the ropes at the back end of an innings, and his bowling skill and accuracy at the top and back end of an innings will play havoc with opposition batsmen.

Shaun Matthews (SA)

A player who is playing the cricket of his life as an over 40’s international cricketer, Matthews has become a critical cricketer in the white ball formats. A quality batsman in his own right who provides Australia with great batting order flexibility, his deadly accurate left arm orthodox can be employed with either the new ball or through the important middle overs. The stumps are always in play while Matthews has the ball in hand.

Andy Crook (VIC)

Crook, standing at 193cm tall, is a clean striker with long levers. Along with the likes of Steve Nottle, Nasir Jalil and Brenton Edwards is another Aussie who can clear the boundary ropes regularly. With a 360 style of play, Crook is hard to contain when in the zone, and combined with near 50 professional games of experience he also provides the captain with a bowling option through the middle overs with his right arm off spinners.

Scott Brant (QLD)

Scott Brant provides Australia’s attack with an important point of difference. A big, strong and experienced left arm quick, Brant has over 80 professional games under his belt and has the skills and class to put pressure on the oppositions best batsmen. With an ability to swing the new ball combined with off pace options, Brant will be a difficult proposition on Karachi pitches.
