Dear Members,

I am pleased to share an exciting and important development in the evolution of our organisation. After extensive consultation with our Board, State Associations, and players—both men and women—we are officially changing our name from Veterans Cricket Australia to Cricket Australia Masters.

This decision reflects a considered and strategic move to better align our identity with the broader over-age sporting community, both nationally and internationally. The term “Veterans”, while honourable and well-respected, carries different meanings in different contexts. In Australia, it is most commonly associated with those who have served in the defence forces. While we have always used the term with pride and respect, we acknowledge that its use in sport can unintentionally create confusion and may imply a narrow age or gender frame.

The name Cricket Australia Masters more accurately reflects who we are today and where we are heading. The term Masters is the widely accepted global standard for over-age sport across all genders. Our female members have also voiced strong support for this change, recognising Masters as an inclusive and familiar term used across many codes and competitions.

Importantly, this change also brings us into clearer alignment with our international counterparts. As proud members of International Masters Cricket, which governs over-age cricket competitions globally, adopting the Masters identity strengthens our international recognition and reinforces our commitment to representing Australia with excellence on the world stage.

This name change does not alter our purpose or passion—it simply modernises our language to reflect the inclusive, competitive, and respected cricket community we have become. We will continue to honour the legacy built under the Veterans Cricket Australia banner while embracing this fresh chapter with pride.

The Board has also agreed to a new logo and branding to align more closely with Cricket Australia. Our thanks to Cricket Australia for their support of this change. Whilst it will take some time to make these changes, you’ll see our new name and branding roll out across our communications, uniforms, and digital platforms. We thank you for your continued support and commitment, and we look forward to growing even stronger together as Cricket Australia Masters.
